Rape & sexual assault

We are here to listen, help and support you. We can provide support and information to help you recover.

Research shows that one in two young women will experience some kind of unwanted sexual contact before the age of 18, ranging from flashing to rape. These experiences can leave a lasting emotional effect.

Rape and sexual assault happens to women and girls of all ages and backgrounds. It can be really difficult to tell anyone and lots of survivors worry they’ll be blamed, disbelieved or judged for what has been done to them.

We know it can be hard to talk about what has happened. What we can promise is that if you want to get support here at the Rosey Project you will be believed and not judged. Many young people are not sure what has happened to them or whether support is right for them.

The right place for you?

Whether you decide to come here by yourself or you’re brought along by a parent, teacher or other carer, we’ll help you decide if this is the right place for you. There’s no pressure to talk or to continue coming – it’s vital that you make the decision to access support on your own terms.

More and more people are coming forward to speak about their experience and there have been significant improvements and changes in the law to reflect the seriousness of these crimes. If you want to report what has happened we can help you do this.

If you just want to talk about what happened then that’s okay too – it’s entirely your choice. The only time we would need to share any information about what you’ve told us is if you or someone else is at risk, and we’ll discuss this with you every step of the way. You can read more about this here.
