The Rosey Project Story

We know that abuse thrives in silence. The Rosey Project is here to tackle that silence and is one of the most successful gender-based violence awareness projects in Scotland.

Founded by Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis in 2010, its original purpose was to deal with the high numbers of young women and girls looking for support after a rape or sexual assault.

But deeply concerning reports from teachers, parents and support workers highlighted the levels of sexual harassment and sexual violence being experienced by young people. So, the Rosey Project was given the additional mission to help prevent sexual violence while providing support to young survivors.

This is now at the heart of what we do.

Our approach

We want to create a society where women and girls are free from sexual violence. The Rosey Project challenges the culture around how women and girls are treated, what is expected of them, and the sexism and misogyny present in society.

We give young women and girls a voice, a chance to talk about sexual violence and to share what has happened to them and in their communities.

Drawing on the experiences of these young people, we developed workshops about gender-based violence that we run with organisations from across the Glasgow and Clyde area. We go where the young people are, delivering training and consultancy in the community, schools, colleges, universities and youth groups.
